Who is responsible
[Nome da empresa, Lda.], tax number [NIPC], with registered office at [rua, código postal, localidade], runs Hotel Belém Tejo and is responsible (data controller) for the personal data described here. For any question about your data, write to info@belemtejo.pt.
This website
For visitors, this website uses no cookies, analytics or advertising tools and loads no content from other companies.
Like every web server, ours records technical data (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser) in server logs. They are used only for security and to keep the site running, and are deleted after a short period. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure, working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
When the hotel’s staff log in to the administration area, the time, IP address and result are recorded for security and kept for 6 months.
Visit statistics
To improve the website we count visits as totals only: which pages are viewed, from which website or campaign link visitors arrive, the browser’s language, the type of device and how often “Book now” is clicked. This happens on our own server, without cookies and without storing IP addresses or any identifier, so nobody can be recognised or followed, and nothing is shared with other companies. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The totals are kept for at most 25 months.
Bookings
Online bookings are handled on our behalf by our booking engine provider. We receive the data needed for your stay: name, contact details, dates, room, special requests and the payment guarantee. Payment card data is processed by certified payment providers. Legal basis: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Check-in and guest registration
Portuguese law requires us to identify our guests and to report foreign guests to the immigration authority (AIMA). For this we ask for your name, nationality, date of birth and identity document details, at the reception or through online check-in. Legal basis: legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).
Invoices
We keep the data on our invoices for the period required by tax law.
When you contact us
If you write to us or call us, we use your details only to answer you and to handle your request (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).
Who else receives your data
Only service providers working on our behalf (hosting, booking engine, payments, hotel management system), who are bound by contract to protect your data, and public authorities where the law requires it. We do not sell your data. If a provider is located outside the European Economic Area, data is transferred only with the safeguards required by the GDPR.
How long we keep it
Booking and stay data: for as long as needed for your stay and then for as long as the law requires. Messages: until your request has been dealt with, and at most 12 months after, unless they lead to a booking.
Your rights
You may ask for access to your data, for it to be corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its use, and for a copy in a portable format. Write to info@belemtejo.pt.
You also have the right to complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, the CNPD (www.cnpd.pt).
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top of this page shows the current version.
